Good Friday morning! We'll cover a couple of more unknowns today in preparation for the trip on Saturday. I'll have a final post with the answers this afternoon.
This bird was seen in a wooded edge near a meadow in a medium sized flock.
It definitely was cold when the picture was taken! Clay-colored is a good guess- even in the same genus as the answer! However, Clay-colored sparrows have a little more color in the face, instead of the single black eye line. Your second guess is right!
Hey Rick, did I take that picture? :)
ReplyDeleteThat bird is clearly visible and not hidden by some tiny little obscure branch, so no. This one was mine. ;)
ReplyDeletePoor thing looks cold... all most looks like a clay colored sparrow, but it might be a chipping sparrow .....
