ID Challenge ANSWERS!

OK! Feel good about your answers?! Click the link to see how you did!

1. White-throated sparrow- note the bright yellow, conspicuous lores and bright white throat.

2. Lincoln's- tough little bird to see and ID, but the striping on the sub-moustatial and malar stripes, and the little crest are good indicators. Also the over all buffy wash help us eliminate other similar birds.

3. Song- very strong striping on the chest, white distinct and contrasting malar and sub-moustachial stripes.

4. Chipping- clean chest, black mascara line and rufous cap

5. Vesper- a little bit of coloring on the sub-moustachial stripe, but not much in the way of distinct marking elsewhere. But that white eye-ring really stands out from all of those earth tones of the face and back.

6. Savannah- stripy chest with a bit of a wash of yellow on the lores. Lacks the really contrasty malar/sub-moustachial stripes of Songs.
